A number of activities transpire when I log on. Most notably my virus and
spyware software connects to my ISP's server and downloads the days updates.
However, what is happening these days is the virus software is loading
before the netcard makes contact with the ISP's server, thus an error
message received: can't connect to the validation server. HOW CAN I ADJUST
THE SEQUENCE OF THE LOAD?

Do you mean something like this/

Yeah. I'm looking for something that will give me the ability to make the
network connection BEFORE my anti virus does it's validation. Otherwise the
virus thing balks. Thanks.

Not to be a wise elbow in any way, but what A/V are you running? I have
two (Norton on 1 computer and AVG on 3 computers). Both of them can be
set to "Wait until network connections are established" before
attempting to update themselves. In fact, I think AVG will wait until
connected in any case.

My ISP rebrands F-Secure and provides it to me for free on as many as three
computers. However, on one of mine, it won't run due to hardware conflict.
It's only a lowly 333Mhz 386 with 128MiBs of RAM and a 5.2 GIG HDD so I use
free AVG. And some other firewall. Not entirely concerned about that
computer though. It's basically for file storage, since I wouldn't be able
to give it away. Runs Windows 98SE. Flies too! Good machine in its day.
