Log on problem

I just installed windows xp professional on a new/used computer and it will
not allow me to get by the first log on page. code error 0x80070002. It says
the problem is preventing window from accurately checking the license for
this computer. I have a volume user key and microsoft suppport is no help or
wants $35 per phone call. I was not on the internet when I installed this
over Win ME. Any help to this? ThX.

Possible Resolution:

Boot into Safe Mode.

Then go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Then go again to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and hit enter again.

Apparently, and I can't say how, the above files became unregistered.
