Log off problems

Each time I try to log off, it does nothing. I go to
start, then to log off, the log off, then the hour glass
symbol appear next to pointer but nothings happens. I can
only log off completely when another user is logged on
already. Otherwise, I have to go to Ctrl+Alt+Del then log
off my name. please help.
 
This may be some application that is running in your
account context that is not behaving properly and
fails to respond to the shutdown signal it receives
to tell it that your account processes are ending.
Try examining with Taskmanager what processes
are alive in your account context.
