I have XP Home, 2003 Server. I am having problems in Outlook, Word, etc.
with the program locking up. I cannot attach/open attachments in Outlook.
In Word, Excel, the buttons on the toolbars lock up the program when I click
on them. I have tried Detect & Repair, I have used the disk to
Reinstall/Repair, and I have tried System Restore with no luck.
I am also trying to install Norton Antivirus 2006, but it will not let me
because of this error "Cannot export C:\DOCUME~1\DEBORA~1\Temp\reg57.tmp:
Error writing the file. There may be a disk or file system error." A new
window pops up with the number after "reg" changed to 59. I have also seen
73 and 41 when I try to install.

Well, lets first determine which OS you actually have, there is no such
thing as XP Home 2003 Server.
Start > Run, type winver and hit enter.

Okay, I have Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519:Service Pack 2)

Is that what you need?

Ok, I'd start by looking at the error itself, "There may be a disk or file
system error". Determine who makes your hard drive, visit their website,
download their diagnostic software, and run it. If the drive fails the
diagnostic check, there's your answer. if the drive passes, I would then
boot to the recovery console and run a chkdsk /r.
You could also run the chkdsk /r before you run the drive diagnostics, but I
prefer to rule out a hardware problem before delving into the software
aspect, after all there's no sense wasting time doing software work if the
hardware is defective.
