Locking up and freezing

Recently my computer has been locking up and freezing. I have recently
noticed that my Task Manager has 40 items running and taking up about 130K.
I have 512MB of memory and I have XP SP2 installed.
Any Ideas?

It's hard to have ideas since you've given us very little
information to go on. If you mean there are 40 processes running,
that's by no means unusual. You say "taking up about 130K," but I
asume you mean 130MB; that's not much at all.

Just as a starting place for troubleshooting, are you running an
up-to-date virus checker? Are you running several anti-spyware
programs, with the latest definition files?

Yes I have 40 processes running taking up 130MB. I have Norton installed and
I have it schedule to update every day. I also have "Spyware Stormer"
installed.

I've never heard of "Spyware Stormer," but whether it's good or
not, a single anti-spyware product isn't good enough. None of
these products finds everything, and you need several to provide
adequate protection. I recommend running Spyware Blaster, Spybot
Seach and Destroy, and Adaware.

A follow-on to my message of a few minutes ago, quoted above. Go
to http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm and
notice that "Spyware Stormer" is listed as one of the
"Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products." It's possible that it
itself is what's causing your problem, and I would uninstall it
if I were you.

hey the best why to start looking for your problem is to open the task
manager and just simply which for the process that is the most active at
first see if you can see whats, stops, what process is active when your
computer freezes. cause i found not guessing i found this after
downloading and installing allot of helper programs that all i need to
do was learn how to make an powerful password for my computer
cause if it is windows explorer thats what it is you need an strong
password to log on to your computer what allot of people including some
so call experts is the windows security uses the password strong
password that is mine was 11 digests you can do the strong password or
buy allot of programs the do it for you not passwords but do your
security of your computer i can go in to more detail about it with you but..
please note i don t want you to buy anything or try any program but
whats on your computer already..
