Locking Fields

Please can someone tell me how I can tell if a field (i.e. a date field) has
been locked? The only way I can think of is to see if it will update or not?

If you right-click a locked field, the Update Field command will be greyed
out on the context menu.

To unlock the fields in the selection, press Ctrl+Shift+F11. (And you can
lock them with Ctrl+F11.)
