locked user directories after reinstall

I have had to reinstall XP Pro, and had two accounts that
had a password on them in the original install. How can
I get access to these directories now, after the
reinstall. There does not seem to be the normal
permissions you have under 2000 to take ownership of
files if you are an administrator. The repair option did
not work on the reinstall. I overlayed the new
installation on top of the old one, but set up new user
accounts so that the old ones would not be overwritten.

Thanks

See Help and Support and search for "take ownership"

HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP

You also need to disable Simple File Sharing. In Windows Explorer go to
Tools, Folder Options, View and uncheck Use simple file sharing.
