I installed WinXP updates (.NET framework, WMP10, and another non-critical
one). After restart, got to login page and clicking on my name did nothing.
I hadn't created a password for my account and thus never got the login page.

I tried to Repair but, in a DOS wndow, was prompted for Admin password ...
not sure if I had all admin rights ... only user ... not admin password.

Is there a way to get in or, at least,to save my files?

Thanks

It's a personal PC and I didn't establish any accounts on my re-install (2
days ago) and have never had problems like this. I did do a repair install
of WinXP and am back in! I have to doing the update and then the SP2 install
but I think that I'm back!

Thanks to all of you!

If you have a full Windows install disk, when you ran the installation
process it prompted you for an Administrator password. It's part of
the install process.

If you have a computer (such as Dell) that only has a disk that allows
you to reinstall the OS, then I think the process is a bit different.

Also, did you try just hitting OK with a blank password?
