local workstations can't see our website

We have a four server network--all Windows 2000 server.
We are hosting our own mail, but our site is hosted
elsewhere.

Our site is accessible from workstations NOT on our
network--but all systems on our network get a dns error
when trying to access the site.

Our internal domain name matches the site name. For
example, our server names are as follows:

fileserver.ourdomain.com
mailserver.ourdomain.com
sqlserver.ourdomain.com
acctserver.ourdomain.com

Our website is www.ourdomain.com, which is hosted by a
third party.

I've posted this in here because of the dns error we're
receiving. But I have a feeling that the problem is
having our internal domain name the same as the registered
domain name. But since we are hosting our own mail, I
assume that it is necessary to do it this way and have the
email addresses be (e-mail address removed).

Please help me understand why we can't access our site, or
tell me how to rectify the problem. I can provide you
more info if needed.

Understand that our site IS accessible from workstations
not attached to our internal network.

Thank you.

Easy fix. Manually create a www entry providing the external website IP.

ANother way to do it, which I like better because if the website IP changes,
you don;t have to worry about it, is to delegate a child zone called "www"
under your current ourdomain.com, and provide your current nameservers that
are authorative for the external domain name (found at your reistrar).

Forget about accessing it without the www part (such as
http://ourdomain.com) because with your split zone name, it will require
altering DC functionality with reg entries that will cause issues with GPOs,
DFS and other domain communications.
