Local Shares Inaccessible

(Forgive the cross-post please)

My XP Pro 2002 SP1 laptop has a local share. When I am logged into the
company network I can open the share. When I log in as the local
Administrator and the network is not available, I am denied access to the
share. Local Administrator has full rights to the share and to the
underlying folder. Browser service is enabled. Any ideas where to check?

Maybe OT...but why are you logging into the local computer? Why not always
log onto the domain, even when not connected? That way you don't have this
problem and you have only one profile to worry about.

I Tried it both ways. with the same results. It appears as though it needs
a domain controller to validate my access rights and when it's disconnected
it can't do so. We're an Active Directory shop if that makes a difference.

If the share is on the local PC that is disconnected from the network, why
can't you just access it locally without the share name ???

Has your IT dept. disabled cached credentials through a policy? I'd check
with them. By default, you will always be able to log in to the domain with
cached credentials even when disconnected. It can be disabled, but it
doesn't happen on its own....

I have a web app that uses the share name to connect. My laptop is hosting
it (so I can develop offline) but while offline, It can't gain access
through the share.
