Local policy does not allow remote login?

Sync Walantaji

Hi,

I have setup a user account on Win2k3 AD server.
Now I try to go to another Win2k3 server via Terminal service (RDP)
useing this domain and account but I'm getting this messages "local
policy does not allow remote login."

Anyone know how to solve this?

Hi Sync,

Thanks for posting!

My name is Jeff and I understand your issue to be:
You have created a new user in the Windows 2003 domain.
When you try to use this domain user to RDP to a remote Windows 2003
Server, you get an error.

Based on your description, I suggest you may check the following:

1. On that Remove Windows Server 2003 machine, make sure you have enabled
the Allow users to connect remotely to this computer and added the certain
domain user to the Select Remote Users tab.
NOTE: If this user is a domain admin, you do not need to add him.

2. Check that user properties from the DC AD users and computers to see
under Terminal Service Profile tab, if the allow user terminal check box is
checked.

If all these two options are correct and the user still failed to access,
please try a local logon to that machine by that user account to see if the
logon locally rights are denied.

You may check the GPO associated with the OU to that remote Windows 2003
machine.

If the user has been added here:

Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local
Policies\User Rights Assignment\
Deny log on locally

If it is, remove him from that policy. Reboot that remove machine and try
again.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further concerns or
questions regarding the issue.
