Local policy changes are not staying

Hi. I'm making changes to a policy setting in User Rights Mgmt (access this
computer from the network) and am adding "Everyone" to that field. After that
change, I can now connect to a shared folder from another computer.

But it seems that after a period of time, or a reboot, the setting changes
are lost.

What could be causing this?

Is this a home computer or a member of an Active Directory domain such at
work or in a larger organization in which case domain level Group Policy can
override local settings??

If it is a stand alone computer then security software or malware could be
causing the problem. You could try enabling auditing of policy change for
success in Local Security policy and an event should be generated when that
user right is changed that may give you a clue as to what is causing the
change.
