local area connections

Is it possible to delete all local area connections, so you can restart and
have the computer re-acquire them? I have too many listed and want only the
one that I actually have.

Yes it is. Just delete them and reboot the machine. have your drivers disk
available as XP will ask for it.

To delete a local area connection, go to Device Manager and uninstall
the network adapter that the local area connection uses. You can't
delete a local area connection directly from the Network Connections
folder.

When you reboot, the system will create a new local area connection
for each network adapter.

What do you see that indicates that there are too many local area
connections? There should be one connection for each network adapter
installed in the computer. To permanently remove a local area
connection, uninstall the network adapter in Device Manager and then
physically remove the adapter from the computer or disable it in the
BIOS setup.

Does a local area connection's name include a number, like "Local Area
Connection 6"? That doesn't mean that there are multiple connections.
You can right-click the connection and rename it to "Local Area
Connection".
