Loan Amortization Schedule

I want to know how the payment, remaining balance, Interest and all of those are calculated on the Loan Amortization Template. But the cells are locked and I can not see how they calculated them. Is there any way to unlock the cells so that I am able to click on the cell and see how they did the calculations

You may try to copy them and paste onto a new spreadsheet -- It worked for me I copied the whole columns then pasted special -- widths, pasted special formats, and paste all -- and I was able to access every cell and formulas.

Hi Jeff!

I don't think the template is password protected so you should be able
to use:

Tools > Protection > Unprotect Sheet

But even then you'll have problems because the template uses named
formulas. To see these you need to use:

Insert > Name > Define

Then look through the formulas used.

It's not really a very good educational tool.

I've got a collection of amortization schedules that should help you
more. Some have detailed comments on the key formulas. Just email me
at the address below.
