Loadperf.exe Hijacking Google and Yahoo search results

J

Jacob Terin

Hello,

I am seeing loadperf.exe access the internet and insert ads into my
Google and Yahoo search listing. The inserted ads look exactly like
the organic search results from the search engines.

1. Is this known adware? None of my current adware solutions
have found or fixed it.
2. Is loadperf.exe part of the original Windows XP distribution?
3. What is the normal purpose of loadperf.exe?
4. Am I safe to delete this file?

I have blocked loadperf's access to the net with Zone Alarm and it
stopped it from serving the ads. I was able to remove it from being
an IE helper with Hijack This. Anyone have info on this spyware? Do
you know if it is dong anything else?

Jacob,

loadperf.exe sounds like you generic random name
generated by spyware, (so if you search for it on the web
you may not have found anything), whats more of a help is
what did you spyware removal tool identify it as, that
way you have much more information to work with.

Hope this helps
