loading of webpages

I have XP and i have had problems lately with my internet... if i leave my
computer on for extended periods of time the internet kicks off... i have a
cable modem and all the lights are on i just dont have access from my
computer... aim kicks me off... internet explorer wont load its the refresh
page... to fix the problem i have to reboot... its been working fine until
late... now my computer seems to be on the fritz some sites will load some
wont... aim works almost all the time... with some sites the pictures wont
load up there wont even be a hyperlink for them... im not sure if i have a
virus or if there is something wrong... i dont want to formay my hard drive
but it is becoming more apparent that its my only option thanks for your time
reading and any advice you can give on this matter
