Attempted to load MSN Explore Update. It tied up my phone
line for 8 hours overnight. When I checked in the morning
I had been disconnected and the update did not complete.
In future please indicate time required to complete
download under adverse conditions. If it is over 3 hours,
keep your update or send it in reasonable segments.

Use your head!

How would Microsoft, or anyone else for that matter, know what adverse
conditions (or line defects) are affecting your internet connection at any
given time, or the severity of these conditions.

It didn't take eight hours because it was an eight hour download - it took
that long due to many variables that are impossible for MS to predict or
plan for. It's a large program and it will download about as well as any
program of its size - most likely, however, your ISP or modem or a bunch of
other issues made this download difficult for you. Dial up is not the
preferred method of connection anymore and although it may be all that's
available to you or affordable for you, progress has taken us past it and
into another realm that makes downloading large files by dial up a difficult
venture at best.
