Live video in powerpoint

Is there any way to insert a live video feed into a
powerpoint slide? From a video capture card? I'm
thinking it would be possible using a macro with VB or
something like that. Any ideas?

You can insert a Windows Media Player object into a slide and point it to
the url for your live feed. You would need to have Windows Media Encoder
(free download) getting the input from the capture card and making it
available for the player. The player does not have the capability to
capture and encode (hence the need for an encoder). The player can connect
directly to Windows Media encoder using a url. There may be issues if you
want the slide show to keep moving while the Windows Media Player continues.
You might need to put the player object on the master slide. I am not sure
if you can set the custom animation on it to continue playing while the
slide show advances like a video clip.

We have an add-in that does just this, using a video capture card such as
ATI All-In-Wonder. However it currently works only in PowerPoint 97 or 2000
running on Microsoft Windows 95 or 98.

Email me direct if you want further information (take out the xxx

Powerpoint news

I use a Matrox G450 eTV live video input card, I use it to show video in
Powerpoint.

To do this first open Matrox PC - VCR ( a TV window) then resize to fill
screen.

In Powerpoint wherever you wish to show video (any size or shape) fill with
0 r 48 g 0 b (RGB Values, a very dark green)
When you get to that slide your video will magically overlay from PC-VCR to
Powerpoint

PS This must be on you primary display if you use two or more displays
