List of KNOWN VS2005/Vista issues.......

(I know this is a great big newsgroup no-no, but I originally only posted to
microsoft.public.dotnet.general and that newsgroup doesn't seem to have near
the readership of these - so I thought I'd also post this info here for the
benefit of the greater dotnet programming community.)

Well, after looking at this list, I'm thinking of staying with XP/VS2005 for
a while longer. At least until SP2 is out and Vista has been burped a few
times.

And I think this has zilch to do with people choosing a career in
programming or not.

My bad. I assumed that SP1 is also SP1 for Vista, which it is, except that
the SP1 that you now install on vista is not 'SP1 Update for vista' Maybe
SP2 would have been a better name...

It wasn't my intention to be arrogant, and I am sorry if I appeared that
way.
But from time to time, there are posts about how we are all stupid for using
Windows / VC and that linux / gcc would save the world if we were willing to
free us from the yada yada yada.

Which is why I sometimes get ticked off about these kinds of posts.
These forums are supposed to be about programming and helping each other.
Starting threads like this has no point whatsoever. They can only raise
ideological debates, possibly ending with harsh words.
There are far more appropriate places for holding such debates.

the bottom line is that those dipshits don't understand that VB6 works
on _EVERY_OPERATING_SYSTEM_EVER_

whereas VB 2002, 2003 and 2005 will only ever work on _TWO_ operating
systems; but you've got to download a whole bunch of crap first

I fully agree; I call for the head of the idiot that made Vista VB6
compatible but not VB 2002, 2003 or 2005 compatabile.

I call for their immediate resignation.
It's RIDICULOUS.

make VS 2002, 2003 and 2005 work everywhere.

VB6 works everywhere; thats' why I still use it.

This is because there are only fixes for VC++ and the IDE not for C#, note that C# is only a
very small part of VS.
