List Box Display Anomaly

M

Michael

I use a list box to display query results for record searches. The
underlying query uses two tables. It has worked fine for years. All of a
sudden, the columns from one of the tables is not displaying in the list
box, but if I run the query in the query window, all the columns return
data. I have not made any changes to the table or form or list box used
in this process. It literally just started happening today.

The list box displays fine on one of my boxes but not the other (both XP
Pro; Access 2003). I delivered a new front-end to a client this morning
and he alerted me the anomaly. I restored his previous front-end and the
list box displayed fine. However, I downloaded the exact same front-end
that is working fine on his box (XP Pro, Access 2000) and that is the
one that works on one of my boxes but not the other.

Am I just going crazy or has anyone ever experienced this before? I have
not been able to find any online documentation referring to this error.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Michael, since it works fine on one machine but not on the other, you are
looking to pin down the difference.

Is there any chance that one machine has had Office 2003 Service Pack 3
applied? There were some bugs introduced by SP3 for Office 2003, including
combo display problems:

If that's the issue, the hotfix (last link in the short web page above)
might solve it.

Allen,
You nailed it! Thank you very much for your quick reply. You undoubtedly
saved me several hours (if not days) trying to pin this one down (not to
mention premature baldness from pulling my hair out!).
I have been developing for eight years and read the news groups, and I
finally decided to get involved. Do you know why I am not seeing my name
in the "Who" column on the news groups. It's just blank.
Thanks again for your help.

Excellent. Solved.

Perhaps another Thunderbird 3 user can comment as to why you cannot see your
own name. It shows fine in Outlook Express/Windows Mail.

Glad you plucked up the courage to do more than lurk.
