Linspire for free??

Freecraft is still available for download in the CNR Warehouse. And
yes, it really is a nice clone.

BTW CNR seems to be down...must be a lot of people downloading Linspire
(other people complained in the Linspire forums that CNR was down, and
a Linspire person said it's because of all those people downloading
Linspire).

Yes, I got mine, too. I expect that all it really took was patience.

After following the instructions (clicking "Apply Coupon" button, etc.,
creating a My.Linspire account, etc.), I've got to the My Products > CD
Download page.

The only downloads available there are Firefox 1.0 Source, and Firefox 1.0
(MS Windows). I see no choice for Linspire Five-0.

What have I done wrong? Thanks!

Same here. I've been disgusted with Microsoft's ethics...trust me, it
won't be long before Microsoft will have an OS which will require an
annual subsciption fee in order to use the OS...they probably have the
technology to apply the subscription fee retroactively (it wouldn't
surprise me if there was code in all versions of Windows dating back to
Windows 95 which would require a $100/year fee or the OS would just
stop working).

Thanks for the review of Linspire and Kanotix.

For additional reviews check out: http://distrowatch.com/

Kanotix: http://distrowatch.com/dwres.php?resource=review-kanotix
I am attempting to download Kanotix on a hi speed connection and am five
hours into a 22 hour download. I'd be more impressed with Kanotix if it
were easier to get.

So far my recommendation stands, Mepis for desktop, laptop. I'll take
a look at Linspire when I get the CD burned. Kanotix? Still waiting.....

Not sure. You are in 'My.Linspire' tab? With 'My Products' and 'CD
Downloads' in the green sidebar?

It works well for me, sorry I can't be more help.

Unfortunately, the Linuxians are headed the same direction. Remember a
few years ago when Linux distros were actually free? Look at what they
cost now. When the desire to give away software comes in conflict with
the desire to make a buck, guess which wins.

If Linux ever gets near becoming mainstream, all the marketing folks
will be studying Bill Gates' methods. It's the nature of free
enterprise. Charge what the traffic will bear.

My eyes must be going bad. Someone is going to pay $90 bucks to run
Windows software on a Linux box when for less than that they could have
real Windows? Barnum was right.

Sounds like your browser may have opened at the bottom of the page. Try
scrolling up. It should be the very first download offered.

Yes, in My.Linspire tab, and selected My Products > CD Downloads to get
there. Thanks for your reply!

I double-checked, then used another browser. I'm at the top of the page.
Thanks.

There may be a problem with the Shopping Cart.
Two days ago I did select it, applied the coupon & entered "freespire", then
clicked "Check Out" on the page with "If you are done shopping, click the
'Check out' button to place your order." Then got another screen which
offered something like "Continue Shopping." So I thought the order was
processed.

"SHOPPING CART (1 Items)" still shows on my screen, though. Might be the
problem.
Thanks for the help. Maybe I don't need Linspire. :-)

Got the right file selection now, know for sure since it's 646.41 MB!
Shopping Cart completion was my problem.
Now I'm only 646 in line. :-)
