Linksys Wireless-G 2.4Ghz Broadband Router Problem

I have a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4Ghz Broadband Router. The Problem is that I
cant access the internet via the wireless router. I can get a signal between
my laptop and the router i.e the laptop finds the wireless network, but it
will not allow me to gain access to the internet. The router is connected to
my cable modem via an ethernet connection, though if I connect the laptop
directly to the modem I do this via USB. Does anyone know if this is a common
problem or if it may be a problem that I will have to contact my ISP about??
Any tips? I would be very grateful!!!

Who's your ISP?
Are they fussy about checking who connects? Do you need to spoof mac address
to get it to work?

If you have never had connection to the Internet via the Linksys, but
the modem seems to work via USB, I would expect that you have a setting
in the Linksys set incorrectly.

Point your browser to the router web page (http://192.168.1.1, usually).
If your linksys is the WRT54G, go to the Setup:Basic Setup page and set
the Internet connection to "Automatic Configuration - DHCP". If you have
it set for "PPPoE" or "Static IP", then that should fix your problem.

The Status tab should show your Internet IP address, subnet mask, and
DNS IP addresses. If these do not appear, click the "DHCP Renew" button.
If that doesn't work, power-cycle the router.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to check with your service provider to
see if there are any custom settings required.
