I've posted this question before but can't seem to fined any help. I'm
having a big problem opening links. When I click on a link in my e-mail or
from a website it takes 2 or more mimutes to open and sometimes it won't open
at all. Tried systems restore--didn't work. I reinstalled IE 7--didn't help.
I have IE 7, SP 2 on my Dell. Can anyone help me out??? Thanks

Hi Doc,
Here are some tablets to take before going to sleep with some water for a
few minutes hopefully you will be on full recovery...? <G>
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

2... You need to be sure your system is clean from malwares and Viruses by
scanning for them.

ness--I followed your instructions till the last one. When I entered
regsvr32urlmon.dll I got a Windows message that file could not be found. But
I rebooted anyway and it seems to be working OK. Got a feeling the problem
might have been somewhere in the ad-on's. Thanks for the help---Doc Jim

Hi Jim,
Glad you it sorted out, Yes it is an Ad-Ons you need to Enable them
One-By-One and see which will be the culprit and Remove or leave it Disable.
About the DLL Command you need to do it again but leave a space between
regsvr3_urlmon.dll (_ = space)
Sometimes hooked ad-on on your browser by third-party or an Ad-ons got
corrupted can cause this issue.
Thanks for letting us know.
Good luck.
