i have sheet 1 set as a master sheet for contact history, the contents of the
master is made up of contact history for 4 people in no particular order. i
have 4 other sheets that contain just the contact info for each person. can i
link these sheets so that i can just edit and add to the master and the
edits/additions will be reflected in the seperate sheets??

I try to keep my data in one location/worksheet. Can use use
data|Filter|autofilter to show just the names you want to see?

If you can't do this, then I'd use the one master sheet for data entry (new
entries and changes). Then split that up whenever I wanted a separate sheet per
person.

Those separate sheets would not be used for updating--it's really a pain to find
the changes when you want to update the original data.

You may want to look at the way Ron de Bruin and Debra Dalgleish approached it:

Ron de Bruin's EasyFilter addin:
http://www.rondebruin.nl/easyfilter.htm

Code from Debra Dalgleish's site:
http://www.contextures.com/excelfiles.html

Create New Sheets from Filtered List -- uses an Advanced Filter to create
separate sheet of orders for each sales rep visible in a filtered list; macro
automates the filter. AdvFilterRepFiltered.xls 35 kb

Update Sheets from Master -- uses an Advanced Filter to send data from
Master sheet to individual worksheets -- replaces old data with current.
AdvFilterCity.xls 55 kb

If you're new to macros, you may want to read David McRitchie's intro at:
