Linking to Excel 2003

I have links in Word 2003 that link to Excel 2003. The links update
properly, both manually and automatically. But, if I add punctuation to the
end of the link, the link is no longer there. For example, the Excel cell
has the name "Jim" and in Word I want "Jim:". If I add the : after the link,
the link disappears.

Hi,

To be certain that you are not overwriting the link when you add the
punctuation, first press Alt+F9 to show the field codes, type your
punctuation outside of the curly brackets of the field code, and then press
Alt+F9 again.
