How can I create links on a Table of Contents that will take users to that
page within the document?

Hi Lyn,

In the Table of Contents dialog box, you should see a check box that says
"Use hyperlinks instead of page numbers". I check that box, then also check
"Show Page Numbers" so that I get links and page numbers in my TOC.

To get to the TOC dialog box, I right-click the TOC, select "edit field",
select "Index and Tables" in the "Categories" pull-down, then "TOC", then
click on the "Table of Contents" button that appears under field properties.

HTH,
Tom

In a TOC generated by a TOC field (that is, one inserted using Insert |
Reference | Index and Tables | Table of Contents), the entries are
automatically hyperlinked. Even if you opt not to hyperlink the entire entry
(or in versions before Word 2000), the page numbers are still hyperlinked.
In Word 2002 and above, you will need to press Ctrl when clicking to follow
the link (unless you have disabled this option on the Edit tab of Tools |
Options).
