linking tables to an external source?

Howard

My database links to two tables in another access database and also to
two excel spreadsheets. At work these and the 'main' database are all in
the same folder with other stuff. However I often put this entire folder
on a memory stick and/or copy it to my laptop to work on.

Is there a way I can set up the linking so that it will always look in
the folder where the 'main' database is without having to manually
re-link each thing separately? (something like application.path in VB)

Especially as the linked table wizard window is too small to see all of
the long pathnames in modern machines.

Actually, you didn't cross-post, you multi-posted. Had you cross-posted, all
responses to your post will be available together, regardless of what group
the responder was in, and the rest of us won't have to read your post
multiple times. (It also uses fewer server resources)

In any case, I answerd in m.p.external

Thank you for the explanation on posting. I thought it was wasting
resources, that's why I offered my apologies in advance. Given your
explanation though, its clear I don't know how to properly cross post.
Please could you explain how its done as it would cause less offense
next time I am unsure where something should go. (I use thunderbird)

Sorry, I've never used Thunderbird, so I'm not sure. In most cases, though,
you list all of the groups to which you want to post, separating them with
semi-colons.
