Linking problem

Hi

I am using Excel 2000 and am using a spreadsheet with many pages and a
large number of cells linking to external workbooks. These links are no
longer required. I have tried to change the source to delete it however
nothing is working.

Is there a way to delete the links in one go so that I do not get the
auto-update request every time I open the file?

How did you try to delete the links? The usual procedure is to change the
source to point to the workbook containing the formulas, i.e. to itself.
 
I would have thought Edit-Replace would be your best bet, assuming tha
each link is not totally unique. You could search for the director
string..
