Linking Family members

We are creating a database for our crime watch members and would like each
person have their own memberid. However, when doing mailings we would like to
link a husband and wife to avoid duplicate mailings. (In same cases however,
we don't want the wife or the husband to get the mail, for example, if we are
sending only to a board member and the spouse is NOT invited. There are other
cases where we invite both the husband and the wife). I have created a
members table and wanted to add a "spouse" field with a drop down of the
members but it won't let me use the same table.

This is an interesting design, where the "client" for some mailings could be
an individual or a household.
