Linking Excel to Powerpoint

I have an excel file with a number of 25 row x 8 column ranges defined as
named ranges (example: $A$1:$H$25 is named range DATA1, $A$26:$H$50 is named
range DATA2, etc). The data in these ranges is entered into the cells and
within the range there is a chart that is locked to some of the cells within
the range.

I use PP to present this information, displaying 4 groups of information
(ranges) on each PP page. The data is entered into PP by going to excel,
selecting the named range, going to PP and using Paste Special / Paste Link
and pasting the excel object into PP. Now when I update excel the PP is also
updated.

Everything works great until I enter a new row within excel between the
existing ranges. Even though the object linked in PP is to a named range, the
PP link does not realize new rows have been added an continues to look at the
original location. Example: added 25 rows between rows 25 and 26. The PP link
that initially looked for $A$26:$H$50 still goes to this location after the
25 new rows are added. How can I get PP to update the abolute addresses when
exel rows are added?

Thanks

Frank

I don't know that you can, but could you create a kind of PPT content area of
your worksheet -- always the same cell range -- but whose contents link to the
named range in Excel? Then link that static range to PPT and let Excel deal
with tracking the link from it to the named range?

Thank you. I will try that.
