Linking Access 97 tables to Access 2002 tables

My company is in the middle of XP deployment, including
Access 2002 upgrades. Part of the people have Access 97,
part Access 2002.

My problem is that the Access 1997 users of an Access 97
form cannot write back to the Access 2002 database
tables. Getting the 'db in unrecognizable format'.

However, Access 2002 users can write to an Access 97 db,
but not vice versa. Any ideas?

Leave the back end in A97 format, and distribute A2000 and A97 front ends
as required.

As Tim mentions, the backend data mdb file needs to be in the lowest version
you are using.

Although it was written for Access 2000, the information at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;296179, also applies
to Access 2002 and 2003.

Good luck.
