Linked to ODBC - Primary Key keeps changing

I really need help. I'm using a bunch of Access db which all have tables
linked through ODBC. When I create the link, I often am prompted to set the
Primary Key(s) for that table.

Now I'm finding that sometimes when I go back into a linked table the
Primary Key has mysteriously changed or is gone. This is creating havoc with
my queries.

A possible clue: I'm using Access 2003 and At the top of the screen it
shows: "Microsoft Access - [Labels_2005 : Database (Access 2000 file format)]

Does anyone have any ideas?? Thanks so much.

What kind of backend database are you using? SQL-Server or another MDB
file?

The primary keys should be set on the tables directly in the backend and not
on the frontend. The fact that Access ask you for the field to be used as
the primary key for a given table is in most of the cases the indication
that something is wrong.

Thanks for the response Sylvain.

The backend is Oracle and the tables are from an outside vendor's software,
so we are unable to change or set the primary keys.

Can you help?

Thanks.

For Oracle? No, I'm sorry.

You may want to search Google for something like « oracle primary key odbc
linked table » to see if other peoples have had the same problem.
