Linked table - access stops responding.

I normally use an ODBC connection using Rumba AS400
optimized server (32bit) driver to query information into
excel via MS query. It works fine.

I need to now get the data, either imported or linked,
into Access so that I can use it in my new db.

I am using the same ODBC source and more often than not
Access stops responding when I try to review or query the
linked table or import a table. I have left it for an hour
with still no response. This seems to happen all the time.

I have tried using a query to append the information into
a different table and I get the message...

ODBC – call failed. (Error 3146)

The help text says something about having lost my network
connection, but this isn't the case, because can still
query the data into excel.

Does anybody have any suggestions about what the problem
might be?

I am having the same problem. Error reads -7787.
