Linked spreadsheet is read-only

I have been linking Excel spreadsheets to an Access database to update it,
for some time now. All of a sudden, <g> I can't write to the linked
spreadsheet.

I may have done a microsoft update in the recent past, but I can't remember.
Regardless, I should be able to update these spreadsheets from within
Access. I assume there is a permissions for lock situation occurring, but
to be honest, I'm not sure where to look.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Allen. I suppose it's my own fault for not reading all the info for
the updates before installing them. I just never supposed that Microsoft
would do such a damaging deed to its own product.

I see that it cannot be removed. So I guess the workaround is to uninstall
Office and reinstall, leaving out the update? Is there another way?
