Linked files in the old PPT Viewer

Hello,

I have an interactive PPT show that I need to distribute on CD.

I have a few links to PDF documents (also on the CD) which link fine using
the new viewer but not the old. I get the error: "The address of this site is
not valid. Check the address and try again."

I've tried making the link launch a bat file, rather than the actual PDF,
but I get the same error. Is there a way to do it? (Or, better yet, are there
plans to release a new version of the Viewer?)

Unfortunately, I have to use the old PowerPoint Viewer because I have a lot
of graphic links that are activated by a transparent box over the top. The
new viewer has a bug and won't recognise the transparent box, just the
outline. It has been suggested before to make this box 99% transparent and it
will work. While this is true, the client is running Win2000, so the
"transparent" box becomes stippled with dots. So the old Viewer it is.

Thanks for any help.

See if this helps, even though it refers to a different PPT version:

Error message: The address of this site is not valid. Check the address and try
again.

Also, check the presentation's document properties; see if a Hyperlink Base has
been set. If so, delete it.

Thanks, Steve, but that is not my problem. The linked files are in the same
directory.

It's just that the old viewer has so little functionality, and the new one
has so many bugs.
