Link to a password protected file

Is it a way to open a file has a link to a password protected file, and still
have the linked data but not open the password protected file?
 
If you open the file that has the link to the password protected file, then that
workbook doesn't have to be opened to retrieve the value--although you will have
to supply the password to retrieve that value.
