LINK TABLES

i have a linked table from another database.

then i have another table in the current database in which i need a field to
be looked up on the linked table. the table works ok (one to one
relationship).

but when i create a query and i try to link various fields from the two
tables i get no data. what i am i doing wrong?
 
Are there perhaps lookup fields in one or both of the tables, so that what's
actually stored in the table isn't what you see when you open the table?
 
the lookup field is in one of the tables, i lookup the field in the linked
table. but the linked table has no lookup fields to another table.
