line spacing between bullet and their associated text

I hope you can help me with a quick tip that might make my
admin support duties easier. I often type bulleted lists
for my employer. The default in Word between the first
bullet and associated text and the next sequential bullet
and associated text is single spaced as follows:

* First is the text for this bullet.
* Second is the text for the second bullet.

However, I would like the line spacing to be doubled by
default as the following, without having to press
shift+enter, first and then press enter again.

* First is the text for this bullet.

* Second is the text for the second bullet.

Any input appreciated!

Your best bet is to apply a bulleted style, such as List Bullet
(Ctrl+Shift+L) and modify that style to have Space Before/After. You can
easily add 12 points Space Before by pressing Ctrl+0, but it's a good idea
then to update the style so that it will always have this space every time
you apply it (see http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/styles/ModifyAStyle.html)
