Limiting the amount of data a Data View returns in design mode

I am designing reports for Sharepoint sites using Frontpage but cannot
find a way to limit the data that FP returns when I am working in
design mode. This means I literally have to wait hours for the FP
client to update every time I make a minor change to the view
(add/delete columns or format text or sum columns).

Is there a way to configure FrontPage to only return a limit number of
rows from a view in design mode - while not affecting the actual live
site when I save the page?

Thanks

Unfortunately not
- I often find it easier to work in IE where ever possible when you have a live site w/ large web parts

Maybe I missed something...

From the Data View, click on Data > Style and then the Options tab
Put a bullet in the choice "Limit the total number of items displayed to:" 1
(or whatever)
Click OK

This will display 1 item at design time. You will want to reset it when you
are finished working.

Stefan, what do you mean you prefer to work in IE with large web parts? You
can't do any formatting or column adding, etc with the Data View when
working in IE. Can you clarify?

My comment was related to Web Parts instead of Data Views/Lists

AH. Thanks for clarifying. I always just think "Data View" - narrow minded
and focused as I am.
