Limited or no connectivity

Hi experts:

We have a small network (4 computers) where 3 computers are running XP Home
and one is running XP Professional. We are able to access the internet
with no problems however our Local Area Connection status shows - limited or
no connectivity.

When 2 computers are powered on we have no problems accessing shared drives,
printers etc. However if we start adding new computers, those newly added
computers start to have problems accessing shared drives, printers etc.
However they are still able to access the internet.

We have tried to repair the connection wizard however we get the error
message - unable to renew IP address.

Has anyone experienced this problem? We would really appreciate any
feedback on this.

Thanks
Ann

We could use some details on the network hardware you're using aside from
the computers. Routers? Type of Internet connection and device?

i have a similar problem. right now i can't use my email program. and got a
similar repairmessage. i went to the netgear site where one user says some
connectivity problems stem from a bug in microsoft's servicepack 2. he gives
instructions for using a windows patch to repair the problem. i'm just
beginning to work on it.
