ok .... here it goes again ......I've read many threads about this but no
solutions ....

I can always get my network going by using the following steps .......
<the system starts up with the little yellow icon on the network symbol>
<I have the nic setup for 10 mbs, full deplex at boot time>

1. Set the Link Speed/Duplex Mode to something other than 10mbs/Full Duplex

<The network icon now has a red X over it .....>

2. I set the Link Speed/Duplex back to 10mbs/Full

3. I disable the network then enable the network

I then get a balloon telling me that my system has connected at 10mbs !!!

This procedure works everytime ....... what is going on ??!?!!?

thanks !

The router is a Netgear Prosafe , the motherboard with a built-in nic is a
ASROCK 939SLI32-eSATA2 .....
The router is set at autodetect ...... through experimentation (and some
reading on the net), I have found that the built-in nic will only work if set
on 10 mbs/full .... don't ask me why .....
I can always get the network operational by using the procedure outlined
below .....
