Limitation in Excel

Is Microsoft going to expand the filtering capability of
the AutoFilter option. Currently you can only filter up
to 1000 unique items. Quite often I find instances where
I would like to be able to filter through 20-60000 items.
I do not understand why Microsoft has made spreadsheets
capable of up to 65536 rows and has only provided a
filter that can sort up to the first 1000 unique rows.
Has anyone else had a problem with this limitation? Has
anyone else tried to contact microsoft about this?

An AutoFilter dropdown list will only show 1000 entries. If your column
has more than 1000 unique items, they can be filtered, but they can't
all be displayed in the dropdown list.

To AutoFilter for an item that doesn't appear in the dropdown list, you
can choose Custom from the drop-down list, and type the criteria. Also,
there are a couple of workarounds here:

Erik,

I saw other people mentioning this limitation, & checked it out - and YES
you are right.

Excel only shows the first 1000 items in the dropdown.

However, you can select "Custom" in the dropdown, Select "equal" & type in
any value you want - and that works.

Is that a good-enough workaround?
