I'm trying to crosstab about 30 columns but the engine returns a partial
result set. I thought the cap was 256 columns? I'm pivoting a number as
column header and the column numbers seem to be automagically arranged in
ascending order rather than the order of the Where clause, an interesting
behavior that has caused me an issue in the past.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

thanks in advance, Greg

A crosstab should be able to return 255 columns. I believe there is a limit
to the number of characters in a returned row. The columns will appear in
alpha order if you haven't specified values in the column headings property.

The where clause will have no affect on the colum order.
