Limit on number of users using an access database

My department is considering using Access to create some databases. A member
of our corporate IT support team mentioned that there is a limit on th number
of users that can use an access database simaltaneously.

Is this true? and if so what is the limit.

There is no limit. Your performance will degrade depending on the number of
users, what they are doing, the type of LAN, the type and configurations of
PCs, etc. I have ten to twenty users doing frequent updates and reads with
no problem at all. I've heard of folks using Access with up to 100 users
with very little trouble. Of course, you need to split your database so
that only the backend is shared, and the front-ends live on each PC.

Do a search and read the previous posts on this topic. There are lots of
previous posts that talk about number of users.

I believe there is a limit of 255 but most of us have found that
somewhere between 25 -50 is a reasonable number.

Don't listen to this european dipshit

if he had a clue; he'd be smart enough to get a visa and come to a
real country

a) Microsoft has depecrated Jet. Because it isn't reliable and it
doesn't scale
b) I've had extensive problems with a half-dozen users
c) Best to move to SQL Server and Access Data Projects.. these work
great for larger implementations
