limit import records

Seems like if I import a large amount of data (from excel or dbase) to create
a table I get "invalid argument." Is this related to the memory available on
the clip board? If I link the same data I don't have the problem. A real
shortcoming if I'm working on large files olr am I doing something wrong?

I seem to have the same problem if I use a "Create Table Query."
 
Something is wrong and probably not your fault.

What version of Access?

Do you have all the latest Office, Access, and Jet service packs and service
releases installed?

What version of Windows and how much memory?
