Library Not Registered error AGAIN

D

dnamertz

Almost 2 years ago I had to install Service Pack 2 for WindowsXP for my MP3
player to work. Installing it was one of the most frustrating computer
experiences ever, taking about 30 actual hours of researching and attempting
to get it to work before finally getting it installed.

Ever since then, most software I've purchased will get a "library not
registered" error while attempting to install, which prevents them from
installing. Among the programs failing to install were the software which
came with the digital camera I bought this year, the keychain which stores
digital pictures my wife just bought me, and many other programs...including
Roxio Easy CD Creator, which worked fine prior to Service Pack 2.

No one seems to have a fix for this, and if it can't be fixed, I'm to the
point where I'll make my next computer purchase a Mac.

Though I've never suggested a registry cleaner program before, I suspect
this might be the place to try one. They're dangerous to use, from what
I've read, but could conceivably help with this matter.

A Google Groups search might find some registry tweaks to handle the
problem. It might help to limit the search parameters by adding the
name of a software package that wouldn't install:

I've never experienced any problems when installing SP2 nor anybody else
I know. Problems may occur due to hardware issues or due to a system
crippled by poor software that *you* had installed and nobody else.
Reinstalling Windows from scratch or performing a repair install instead
of your 30-hrs-patchwork saves a lot of time usually in the latter case.

That's unstable and outdated software, see also

Look for a better product (eg. "Nero") if there is no update available.
No one seems to have a fix for this,

Because you simply failed to post the affected Installer/s!

In case of the "Windows Installer" (re-)install the latest version:

In case of the "InstallShield Engine" (third-party):

and if it can't be fixed, I'm to the
point where I'll make my next computer purchase a Mac.

Sure, go ahead. That's fine with me.

When I researched this problem in the past there were many people.

Worked fine before SP2.

Exactly!

Because you simply failed to post the affected Installer/s!

I posted it the other times this happened...and yet, there was no fix.
It's still InstallShield.

Well, great that you were posting important information the other times.
It's still InstallShield.

What posted link did you fail to read and comprehend?

Niether. I chose to ignore both because one was for "Windows Installer" and
the other was a fix I've already tried in the past but it never solved the
problem. Thanks anyway for your failed attempt at helping.

Anyone else have suggestions without being rude from the start?
