Does anyone know what the LexBce Server is, and, more importantly, what to do
if it refuses to start? I get an error message that says "The service did
not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" -- which
tells me nothing.

Hi Mike,

It's a service that fires up when you try to print or scan something and
would have been installed as part of your Lexmark printer software. You
should go to START > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and
make sure that "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)" is set to Automatic start and
that "Print Spooler" and "LexBce Server" are set to Manual start.

Hope this helps

Andy

Thanks, Andrew. I adjusted all the settings as you suggested, but am still
unable to start LexBce. I think you gave me the explanation, though. You
said it should have been installed as part of my Lexmark printer software.
But I didn't have the disk handy, so I downloaded the driver software from
the Lexmark web site. I suspect the installation disk contains more than
what I downloaded. So I'm going to try to find the disk that came with the
printer and work from that. Hopefully that will solve the problem.
