Lexar Pin Drive (Dave Patrick if possible)

Hi,

Just asked Dave only because I read where he had commented on a
desktop that was locking up with a Lexar jump drive.

I saw where several have had trouble with error messages in the event
viewer when using a Lexar Pin Drive. I don't have a lockup problem,
but get the following on install and after removal.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Removable Storage Service
Event Category: None
Event ID: 17
Date: 4/10/2007
Time: 3:12:23 PM
User: N/A
Computer: POS
Description:
RSM cannot manage library PhysicalDrive1. It encountered an
unspecified error. This can be caused by a number of problems
including, but not limited to, database corruption, failure
communicating with the library, or insufficient system resources.

Any suggestions on what to do to correct this or where to start?

tia,
dcdon

Thanks Dave,

Either of these may lead to a fix. Seems Lexar has no driver posted
for W2KSP4, but I did get a response from their support group. I will
try to post the outcome, if it is soon enough for the thread to still
be posted.

thanks again,
dcdon

P.S. I still never know whether to reply-to-group on the bottom or
top. Some get a wedgie if it's on top, but many of the most
knowledgeable seem to prefer this protocol. Which is it?

thank you very much,
dcdon

Thanks again,
(no need for reply)
I feel like the folks who posted to the link below. I mostly like to
post on top, but I do understand the folks that lurk threads for the
entire story. Bottom posting is for everyone's benefit on occasional
reading, it seems and top posting is on more of a one on one basis.
I believe both protocols will continue and all be well (as we make
it)

For those who wonder about the resolution of the Pin Drive problem.
I contacted Lexar Support
They answered in a flash
Speaks highly of LEXAR

I won't post the complete procedures I went through, but here's the
short version.
First I used Disc Manager to remove the active partition.
Added a new primary partition and formatted to FAT32.
That cleared any code corruption, I guess.
Still had an issue, so after that.
Second d/l Mike Linn's StartupCPL
Unchecked everything and booted, and did not get an error.
Then I added checks one at a time until I had a problem.
Removed Sis KHooker.exe which this sight said was unnecessary

I did that by changing the extension to .old in case it created a
problem, but it did not.
Clean up a few other things and tried the pin drive again.
Viola, NO error 17

End of story...
good computing,
dcdon
