I have asked this question before in a different manner but I can't find the
answer. Using Word 2003 on a Dell laptop, when I type the words you and
words like like change, the cursor jumps backwards to a different part of the
page. The button "eraser" has been inactivated. Any thoughts?

Is your thumb hitting the touchpad while you type?

I don't think so because it happens only when I type "you, your, etc.". It
happened while typing this response.

y is in the centre of the keyboard where its use is most likely to affect an
over sensitive touch pad.

Just for grins and giggles, try putting a piece of thin cardboard (like an
index card) over the touchpad and type.
