Letters cut off

When typing on a blank page in Word-2007, upper half of the letters are cut
off . But if selected and copied, the letters in full are evident. Why?

Selected and copied??? Do you mean copied and pasted some place else (e.g.
another document, etc.) ?

Check the Paragraph Line Spacing in the paragraph where the text appears
cutoff.
